Haleakala zipline in Kula

Six ziplines, a wooden plank bridge and Hawaii's only pendulum line through the forest on the slopes of Haleakala, Upcountry in Kula, on the highway toward the national park. Pick it for a younger crowd and an easy pairing: kids from 8 can zip, and it fits on the way up or down the mountain.

Haleakala Zipline Adventure

About this experience

Skyline's Haleakala course is Upcountry at 18-303 Haleakala Highway in Kula, partway up the road toward Haleakala National Park, a long drive from West Maui. Check in 30 minutes early. The zipping itself takes about 1.5 hours of the 2-hour slot.

Skyline's own tour page lists 6 lines in about 2 hours, and the Viator listing adds a hike along a wooden plank bridge above the forest floor. Skyline calls its pendulum line the only one in Hawaii, and one guest wrote that the last zip line was a pendulum and "intense". Guides cover native birds, the forest and Maui's ranching history, and several guests mention the conservation talk.

Two caveats. It's cooler up here than at the beach: one guest advised bringing warmer clothes "no matter how hot it is that day". And it's a short course: one guest found it "not as thrilling as others" until the last two lines, another wanted more ziplines for the price. Everyone must weigh 60 to 260 lb, checked at check-in, and be able to hike half a mile over uneven ground.

  • Six ziplines through the forest on Haleakala's slopes
  • A wooden plank bridge above the forest floor
  • A pendulum line, the only one in Hawaii by Skyline's account
  • Children from 8
  • Small groups: 12 guests at most

I had never been ziplining and am afraid of heights. Casey and Jackson were amazing. They were so friendly and funny and made my apprehensive experience wonderful. The scenery was beautiful and I enjoyed the commentary at each leg of the trip.

Anika and Noah were fantastic guides. [...] My family had a blast zipping from one tree to another while enjoying a beautiful view up above Maui. The location was part way towards Haleakala National Park so it was a perfect part of our day.

Tips before you book

  • Bring a warm layer: it's colder at elevation than at the beach.
  • Close-toed shoes are required; shorts and short-sleeve shirts are recommended on the listing.
  • Don't book within 24 hours after a scuba dive.
  • Heading to the summit afterwards? The national park charges $30 per vehicle, and sunrise needs a separate reservation: see Maui fees and rules in 2026.
